So, I have spent the first 10 minutes of the latest SPN ep buried underneath the covers in horror/embarrassment squick/rage. I don't actually know if it's worth pressing on, since I have enough crap to do today. What says the FL?

eta: Also, notably, this is why I don't LARP - that enthusiastic suspension of self. It weirds me out. Which, I know, is REALLY WEIRD for a theater person to say, but there it is.

OHAI LUCERO, I hear you in the background of the dive bar. Yays!

edit: Song is "She's Just That Kind Of Girl", from Rebels, Rogues, and Sworn Brothers. Fantastic.
e_juliana: (let's get wasted)

(Okay, that's a pretty good description of my type.)

(Oh, and apparently, I'm Spike.

I feel the need for a Spike/Dean crossover...)

This has been in the window display of the candy store around the corner from me (Buffistae will remember it as the Awesome Place What Gives You Free Fudge and Salt-Water Taffy) for the past few months, and I finally got around to taking a picture and posting it. Now I kind of feel the need to buy the damn thing.

Spoilers within! Beware! )

Not the best ep, but I enjoyed. Except the gore. I could deal without the gore. Yes.

Have now watched 3.01 of Supernatural. Am still in love with show. Reactions under the cut.

Yarrrr, beware the spoilers and ASSCAPS OF FLAIL! )

Also, the music in this ep is KICK. ASS.

Top 10 Favorite Things About Supernatural

1. The Winchesters are extremely pretty men, and hit my competence kink so hard I think the button fell off. goes under chair to look for it

2. Kripke wins at Lord King Bad Vids. Seriously.

4. Bobby Singer is so awesome that it hurts. He's the boys' father figure in a way that John never could be - it's the tragedy of working/living so closely with the people you love that you stop seeing them. Bobby sees them as they are, with no parental hopes or fears laid over that. That's invaluable to the boys.

5. The makeup team kicks ass. I honestly believed Dean was dying in Faith, and it hurt to see how banged up they all were in In My Time Of Dying. Like, I could feel the bruises and cuts. Not to mention Sam's Great Pie Incident in All Hell Breaks Loose.

6. I swear, the motel-decorating team has the most fun, trying to find the most cracked-out combinations of props, bedding, and wallpaper.

7. There's some amazing detail in the scripting and shooting - stuff that most people wouldn't notice, but it fleshes out the picture wonderfully. Of course, they get some things vastly wrong, too - goofer dust springing to mind.

8. Crossroad Blues. Period.

9. PADDYWHACK's improvement as an actor. It's been a joy to watch Jared fully move into inhabiting Sam and really stretch.

10. Dude. The soundtrack. Mullet rock forever!

A few people have wondered why the SPN-fen are against the dedicated SPN thread, feeling victimized, defensive, whathaveyou. (Which, I think the "victimization" comment is off the mark, but we are trying to defend a position.)

Here's why: we didn't ask for the thread. We don't want to be spun off. We (were) having fun in Boxed Set. We feel very rejected right now by being asked to go squee somewhere else.

Now, it might be the right thing to do for the board. But, it hurts on a very visceral level, and I really don't think people on the other side - the people who are probably annoyed by our squee - get that. It feels like a rejection.

And I get that we're annoying. I get annoyed by people flailing about baseball - hell, I'm a little annoyed by the flail over Harry Potter. So it's not like I don't sympathize. I guess I was just hoping that either the flail would be endearing enough to compensate for the annoying and/or people would do what we've been doing for a long time, which is scroll on by or try to interject their conversation into the middle of the squee. Which can be offputting, I know.

Anyway. I'm not trying to start a flamewar or even a discussion right now, because it is that upsetting for me, and I don't want to be upset today. But this is the position I am posting from. I understand everyone else's position, and this is mine.

How Do The Winchesters Kiss, My Love? )

Swiped from [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre, who was prompted by [livejournal.com profile] cofax:

Describe yourself as a Mary Sue (an idealized to the point of *barf* version of you) for the world of Supernatural in approximately 100 words. Then tag your friends!

Dean knew he'd like this place as soon as they walked in. Dive-y atmosphere, Metallica playing on the juke, and a pool table.

The bartender, though, she was the cherry on the sundae. Short fire-engine red hair, big smile, smokin' curves, toned arms, blue eyes, and a twinkle in those eyes that promised fun. Her work outfit was a black wifebeater, ripped jeans, serious silver jewelry, and motorcycle boots, with a kick-ass tattoo over what looked like half her back peeking out from under the tank top.

Dean stepped up and ordered two beers, grinning as she gave him a once-over. Not much beyond standard flirting until she saw Sam pulling out the notebook, and then she said that any friends of Ellen were friends of hers and poured them shots of tequila, throwing the limes at Dean’s head when he requested Purple Nurples and threatening to kick him out for drinking a girly drink. Dean tried to take her home, but she was having none of it.

Now, Dean and Sam make it a point to stop in her bar every time they go through town. Hell, they even ran into Jo there once, chatting with Seattle's version of Bobby. Dean still hasn't made it into her bed, though.

You know...

I had caught the awesome print of a Haida or Tlingit raven on the wall of the professor's office in "Tall Tales", but then I got so caught up in LAUGHING MY ASS OFF that I forgot about it.

Someone stop me before I go through all of the screencaps looking for Coyote & Ananse & Monkey &...

Also, [livejournal.com profile] kroki_refur's "Tall Tales" picspam is a thing of hilarious beauty. Oh, show.
e_juliana: (save a horse)
Oh, SHOW. ::flail::

"Lady In Red". There are no words, really. That moment made me laugh so fucking hard. NO WORDS. Hee!

Trickster was awesome. I recognized him not from his other teevee work, but from North Beach (the movie). Which makes me laugh even harder.

Superb acting by everyone. Dean stuffing his face - comedy gold. Sammy in uber-bitch mode, and the when they're talking to Mouthbreather: "You brave little soldier!" - comedy PLATINUM.

Oh, show.

But very nice thinky bits. This one is going to have to be rewatched, I can tell.

This whole "watching real-time with commercials" thing actually pulls me out of the show more. Hmmmm.

Also, if there was ever a time to be using Cash, this ep was it.

That Styx's "Renegade" is suddenly hugely popular on iTunes.

You'd think there were a bunch of freaky fans out there, or summat.

So powerful is the Firewall of Flail (tm [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre) that it took me 2 days to really process a small detail about the latest episode of SPN (which most of my flist will have already caught and think I'm dumbass for thinking this is big, but it hit me hard, and whoa I love this show) (and yes, it took me that long to catch up via ahem-delay):

Wee spoilers for Supernatural S02 Ep09 *Croatoan* inside )

Such potential for pain. Kripke, you magnificent bastard, you'd best break my heart in the most interesting of ways.

Gods, I love this show.
