I know damn well I'm not as smart as my parents thought I was, and it's something I get to learn to live with

You know, I don't think I ever was as smart as they thought I should be, and now I'm not as smart as they probably think I am.

This sounds way unfair to my parents, but I was stunned to find out that they'd love me anyway. It's certainly not something they'd let me believe while I was still in school.

Brains are weird. Parents are weird.
