It's Friday.

Whee.

Post to follow babbling about my show, but first:

Friday Five. from fridayfive.org

This one was hard, especially the last three. I reserve the right to change any and all of the answers from day to day.

1. Name one song you hate to admit you like.

"Never Say Goodbye", by Bon Jovi. Makes my inner schmaltzy 12-year-old happy, but so embarrasing.

2. Name two songs that always make you cry.

"It's So Hard To Say Goodbye", Boyz 2 Men. It's a thing.

"Amazing Grace". I don't know what it is about the song that makes my little pagan heart sad, but put it on bagpipes and I'm gone.

3. Name three songs that turn you on.

"Drive", Melissa Ferrick.

"your fingers are trembling and your heart is heavy and red and your head is bent back and your back is arched my hand is under there holding you up i’ll hold you up and drive you all night"

Between the insistent, intense lyrics and the repeating, driving melody.... GUH.

"Cream", Prince. Do you really need to ask?

All of The Crystal Method's Vegas, but especially "Busy Child". Best sex music Ever.

4. Name four songs that always make you feel good.

(I'm conflating "good" with "happy" here....)

"Babylon", David Gray.

"Seven", Prince.

"D.R.I.N.K.", The Jazz Butcher Conspiracy. Check 'em out.

"American Girl", Melissa Etheridge

5. Name five songs you couldn't ever do without.

"Everybody Wants To Rule The World", Tears For Fears.

"Singing In My Sleep", Semisonic.

"Into The Mystic", Van Morrison.

"Tangled Up In Blue", Bob Dylan, as covered by the Indigo Girls.

"Slide", Goo Goo Dolls.

EEEEP!!!!

We open tonight.

Someone tell me that it's going to be funny, that people will laugh, and that the gay community won't be horribly offended by all of the nuances I managed to miss?

Someone tell me that all of the tech that massively screwed up last night will be good tonight, and even if it's not, the audience will be so entertained that they won't care?

I think I'm starting to panic.

I hate this part. This is the worst part. It's almost totally out of my hands, but not yet, so I think I still have time to fix it. I don't.

I know why this tech kicked my ass. It's the biggest (both mentally and physically) show I've ever done.

In show news, the run went pretty well last night. The actors are soooooo ready for an audience. So ready. Desperate and begging, even. It's a shame that the tech is not at the same level, but there you go. Tech flubs are forgivable, poor acting &/or directing is not.

We were done by 10, and the entire cast went to the pub across the street for booze & food. I sort of wanted them to go home and REST, but I think the group time was good for everyone.

Today, I have to:

Finish up my work (here at work)
Go to Rainbow Road for gifties
Figure out appropriate music to use for certain dead transitions (I do suck at those)
Burn all of the cues onto new sound CD's
Do yoga, at the very least
Write out thank you notes
Go to the show and not wince like a mad thing when anything goes wrong
Drink and eat and be pleasant at the gala (and not roll my eyes at my producers. *Such* a dysfunctional team they are.)

I really am so very nervous, it's pathetic. But thank you all so much for your support.
