Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez, y'all.

Happy Fat Tuesday, happy Super Tuesday, happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] ocvictor, [livejournal.com profile] coffeeandink, and [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon, and good days to all.

I had myself a yeast-raised sugar-dusted doughnut, since packzis and King Cake are sadly inaccessible. Mmmm, doughnut.

Being non-Christian, I don't do the whole Lent thing, but I always love festivals that are designed to elevate the low, at least for a day or so. (See also: Boxing Day.) Also, any holiday that has eating really good food as a centerpiece is a-okay in my book.

My fondest memory of Lent comes from college when a friend told me she was giving up sex for Lent.

I looked at her and said, "I'm not sure this is how it's supposed to work, sweetie. If you're having so much of it that giving it up is a sacrifice..."

Then again, this is the girl who did the FSU baseball team or at least a good number of them, so perhaps... it was appropriate for her.

Donuts... mmm....

I think I'm going to be participating in Lent this year, in some capacity as yet to be determined.

Our mid-level boss always gets one of the conference rooms all crazy decorated, serves punch and king cake, and goes around handing out beads.
