Bob Seger is so awesome that Chuck Norris bows down to him.

I have not EVER felt the love for a performer that I felt tonight fucking emanating from the audience, and I have been to a Lucero concert.

I'll talk about it more later, but Lee & Suzi kick ass, and Bob is my motherfuckin' hero.

Bob Seger is made of awesome, y'all. Seriously. The man has been through a lot, and he's still rockin'. He's lost the growly higher part of his range - arguably his iconic sound - and he's adjusted amazingly well. He looked like he was having so much fun up there, and we were having so much fun in the stands. I meant what I said - I have never felt so much love coming from an audience, especially such a large one. [livejournal.com profile] la_perkins and [livejournal.com profile] maidengurl kindly (laughingly) put up with my extreme dorkitude/glee. I grew up listening to him, and I still love his music. It's not really an exaggeration to say that Seger shaped my entire worldview, from the kind of music I like to the kind of men I chase to the transportation I'm dreaming of to what I drink. There's been other influences and I've gone down other paths, but given everything (and especially where I am right now) - he is the godfather of all of that. I was fully aware of being one of the youngest people (and more middle-class) there that wasn't with her parents. Didn't care (though I wish my mom could have been there with us - she would have LOVED it). I was with my girls, and life was good. The contact high wasn't too bad either.

Normally at a concert, I'm much more concerned with the group gestalt - observing, making sure everyone's having a good time, what not. I love watching the interplay between the people on stage and seeing the audience's reaction to the performers - years of theater coming to the fore, I guess. Last night, not so much. All of my energy, all of my focus was on that stage, and mostly on Bob - though Alto got a lot of my attention, too. Alto Reed is love, people.

5th song in - "Old Time Rock And Roll". He tore through that one, and then said, "And we're only 20% done!" LOVE. SO MUCH LOVE.

Geeble. That's all I've got right now. In a few days, I'll have a Bob Seger concert playlist, which I'll post, with comments on the songs. Until then, here's the setlist from last night.
