A few people have wondered why the SPN-fen are against the dedicated SPN thread, feeling victimized, defensive, whathaveyou. (Which, I think the "victimization" comment is off the mark, but we are trying to defend a position.)
Here's why: we didn't ask for the thread. We don't want to be spun off. We (were) having fun in Boxed Set. We feel very rejected right now by being asked to go squee somewhere else.
Now, it might be the right thing to do for the board. But, it hurts on a very visceral level, and I really don't think people on the other side - the people who are probably annoyed by our squee - get that. It feels like a rejection.
And I get that we're annoying. I get annoyed by people flailing about baseball - hell, I'm a little annoyed by the flail over Harry Potter. So it's not like I don't sympathize. I guess I was just hoping that either the flail would be endearing enough to compensate for the annoying and/or people would do what we've been doing for a long time, which is scroll on by or try to interject their conversation into the middle of the squee. Which can be offputting, I know.
Anyway. I'm not trying to start a flamewar or even a discussion right now, because it is that upsetting for me, and I don't want to be upset today. But this is the position I am posting from. I understand everyone else's position, and this is mine.
