Especially when I'm stuck at my day job.
So, last night put us woefully behind schedule. We only made it through the cue to cue for Act I last night, so tonight we have to:
Spike furniture settings
Q2Q Act II
Reblock the Bed scene
Reblock Sterling's Apartment, including transitions in and out
Fight Call
Dance Call
Run-Through
That's a lot. I'm tired just looking at it.

Date: 2003-04-30 11:45 am (UTC)I prefer acting for the stage, because I like the feedback (and I can memorize two to three hours worth of dialog and blocking). But there's something quite neat about working both behind and in front of the camera as well.
Now I definitely need to start planning my next DV short, so I can start pulling the resources together.

This I have not done yet. I would love to, but theater takes up so much time, and then there's that whole "paying bills" thing.
How many DV projects have you done? What's your main focus?
I think if (when) I make it to the F2F, I'd like to spend part of Saturday hanging out with you and Drew (NoiseDesign), talking about theater & directing in L.A. Making plans, making plans....
If you're cool with that, of course. :)

Yeah, those damned bills. I think I would be much further in my directing career if I didn't have to pay bills... and, you know, had millions of dollors to finance projects with.

I directed a couple of short digibeta projects back in Michigan that I'm still trying to get ahold of the original tapes so I can re-edit and put them on my reel.
Out here, I've worked on two DV shorts, both of which were about the toughest and most fun things I'd ever done. Those I didn't direct, but worked as a script supervisor (one of a couple of jobs that are very much like being a stage manager for f/v). Both of them allowed me to make good contacts, and meet some people to help me with my first DV project as director/producer later this summer.
My main focus right now is to gain experience/expand my reel and try to find somebody to pay me to be on set.

Well, I hope you do make it out here. Because I'd be happy to talk shop with you and Drew. I'm looking forward to meeting him, too. It sounds like the F2F may be his first chance to get together with all of us LAistas. He's a busy, busy man. But I'm looking forward to picking his brain - I keep thinking about trying to do some theater out here, and he sounds like the one to talk to.
Anyway, now I must ready myself for work. More soon!
