I know many people, women and men, who are survivors of sexual violence.
I am conflicted about putting myself in the above group. Goddess knows I have been in some weird, creepy, and upsetting situations, and my psyche is such that I quite possibly buried some of the worst things far below any surface. I don't know, and I'm not willing to go trolling for those memories.
I am a survivor of mental and emotional abuse, and that has left its mark on me. I'm doing my best to put it in its place, though, and not dissect it endlessly.
To the survivors, my love and support to you. To the families of the survivors, may you have the strength to support them. To everyone else, violence begets violence. Let's focus on the healing.
