1984 - George Orwell - Read this in high school and in college. It didn't affect me as much as it affected some of my friends.
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll - Of course. I loved this book so much.
Animal Farm - George Orwell - This was the book I preferred in high school, until our teacher made us analyze every. single. thing. about it. That's when I discovered that I am not cut out for lit crit.
Anne of Green Gables - LM Montgomery - Wasn't this required reading for girls of my age? I remember really liking this book, but I don't remember why?
Black Beauty - Anna Sewell - It had horses. Of course I was going to read it.
Brave New World - Aldous Huxley - This one, now. This was a dystopia novel that stuck with me.
Catch 22 - Joseph L Heller - Love. This. Book.
The Catcher in the Rye - JD Salinger - Again, wasn't this required reading? I went on a Salinger tear for a while, actually.
Charlie & Chocolate Factory - Roald Dahl - One of my favorites growing up.
A Christmas Carol - Charles Dickens - Bloody Dickens.
The Clan of the Cave Bear - Jean M Auel - Like most others, I read it for the naughty bits.
The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexander Dumas
Emma - Jane Austen - I like Austen, but this isn't her best.
Good Omens - Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman - Yes yes YES. So much fun.
Great Expectations - Charles Dickens - Again, I say: Bloody Dickens.
The Great Gatsby - F Scott Fitzgerald - I felt no love for any of these characters.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - JK Rowling

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - JK Rowling

----I got v. annoyed with Harry during the last book. We'll see if I continue.
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams - Again, YES. So many of my references are to this book.

Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte - High school.
The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe - CS Lewis - I had the entire series, from Britian.
Little Women - Louisa May Alcott - High school, again.
Lord of the Flies - William Golding - Brrrr.
The Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien - Just finished it. I'm glad I saw the movie first, because at least I know how things are supposed to be pronounced.
Love in the time of Cholera - Gabriel Garcia Marquez - Yes. I love how he can spin out words.
The Magus - John Fowles - Started it. It didn't capture me too much.
Matilda - Roald Dahl - I know I read it....
Memoirs of a Geisha - Arthur Golden - Not too shabby of a novel. Perfect plane reading for me.
One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez - Love GGM.

The Secret Garden - Frances Hodgson Burnett - The first book I ever read. I was five. Loved it to pieces.
The Stand - Stephen King - Only book that scared me so much that I had to put it out of sight for a while.

To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee - JUST read this. How did I ever miss it? I love it so....
A Town Like Alice - Nevil Shute - My mother was obsessed with this book and the miniseries. I think she still watches it.
