flyingtapes thinks that IDC sounds like reinvented Cure remixed by Placebo, which I can see. Patrick's vocal stylings and the synth definitely lend themselves to that interpretation, especially in the chorus. Personally, I've said that the skeleton of FOB's "I Don't Care" is making me want to hear them attack a few Bo Diddley songs. Seriously, the breakdown that starts at 2:18 sounds like pure George Thorogood (who owes most of his sound to Diddley), and I
know Patrick can hit those kinds of notes. (She also made the point that "What A Catch, Donnie" sounds like the elegiac 80s piano-rock ballads so popular at school dances. She's right.)
In other music notes,
la_perkins and I will see TWO concerts this weekend! That's right, TWO! We've got Gym Class Heroes & The Roots Saturday night in San Jose (whoo!!), and then The Academy Is... in SF on Sunday. Very exciting. I finally got a copy of
The Quilt, and holy shit do I love it. Disashi singing will never not be awesome. It'll be cool to hear the songs I heard at Warped and actually know them this time.
TRAVIE, YOUR
STUPID FACE.
BLESS.
