Some of us were talking about sex-ass singers, and we turned to a dissection of the lyrics in "Rattlesnake Smile". The part where CK yells "Do I look like something you can put in a fuckin' cage?" damn near melts my panties every goddamn time.

However, the granddaddy of that kind of reaction belongs to Bob Seger (big shock, I know). In "The Fire Down Below", he sings "When the street lights flicker, bringing on the night" - the way he accents "flicker" makes it sound like he's grinding his hips when he sings it, and it all flows from there. Hoo boy.

The way he shouts it --growls it, really -- is just ... Well, yeah, panty-melting. He absolutely sells that frustration and rebellion.

Love Bob Seger. So many good songs, and lyrics that are so often as precise and yet evocative as Springsteen, where he can nail the feel of a whole moment with just a few words.
