So, I need new shoes. Specifically, I need new work shoes for the restaurant. I'm currently wearing wedge espadrilles to work in, and even though they're high, they're comfy as hell - up until I take them off, and then my feet hurt. But my feet are constructed so that I need at least an inch heel to be truly comfortable, especially if I'll be on my feet for a while. Either that, or I need to be in super-cushy boots.

I've been saying that if/when I get a real bar job, I'll get myself a pair of 20-eyelet Docs. I think I might have to move that timeline up a bit, even though I don't quite have the money to do so. I can feel the damage starting in my Achilles already.

So. I need a black boot that goes to at least mid-calf, that will work with a skirt or with pants (I wear a skirt at the restaurant). I need: a bit of a heel or room to put orthotics in, a wide toebox, a thick & cushy sole, and room for my large calves. Also, durable leather or other fabric, because I spill beer & sangria all. the. time.

I kind of like these Docs, especially the zip bit, but I'm afraid that the loose leather will bunch unattractively around my ankles.

These intrigue me, and I know a lot of people who like Harley boots, but I fear the narrowness of the toebox.

Hmmmmm. I like the look, but I'd really need to try it on.

I really like these, but the suede is a no-go.

I wonder if these would work. The calf is probably too small. Bugger.

I could always get the 14-eyelet Docs.

Or maybe I should just give and order the 20-eyelets. These even have a side zip, which is quite useful when one is tired after 7+ hours on one's feet.

These are the female version of the boots most of my guy bartender friends wear.

Hrm. Maybe I should just wait a month or so, until 1) I know what's going on with the restaurant and 2) I get back from Vegas (whee! Yay [livejournal.com profile] la_perkins' birthday!). But waaaaaaaaaant.

(Need a shoooooz icon. Or perhaps a booooooooots icon.)

I like the Harleys (both pairs) and the Fryes.

Mmmm, boots.

I have no comments on the boots, but think if you can find the money to buy sooner, rather than later, you'll be happy you made that decision. I just plunked down $115 on a pair of Danskos, and I am so glad I did. I had been in so much pain with my increased amount of walking. It was a good decision. I think you'll find it would be too.

Have you checked out DSW on Powell? Last time B & I were in, they had a bunch of different Docs, for very reasonable prices (way less than normal retail).
